Why you must do Greater Works – The LOVE of God – Part 9 – GLGC PH Recovery Service – Pastor Odim Awa Odim

Why you must do Greater Works – The LOVE of God – Part 9 – GLGC PH Recovery Service – Pastor Odim Awa OdimAnd we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

What is the love of God?

1 John 4:16; [16] And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. God is Love. The love of God was demonstrated by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ which enabled us to be redeemed and to become children of God.

John 3:16; [16] For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. So, from the scripture above we saw demonstration of God’s Love to redeem us back to Himself. this God’s Love speaks of sacrifice. this sacrifice cost God his only beloved son.

So, when we talk about God’s love we must understand as believers the qualification of the love of God on us is sacrifice.

What is Sacrifice?

Sacrifice means giving to the Lord whatever He requires of our time, our earthly possessions, and our energies to further His work. There is a prerequisite in the definition above and I quote ” To further His Work”. it is ultimately definite for us to know why we are saved and what we must do in this kingdom.

So why we were saved is to advance the kingdom of God and we can only achieve it only when we walk by the laid down examples of Jesus Christ which is his ultimate devotion to the call of sacrifice.

Ephesians 5:2; [2] And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. So, our willingness to sacrifice is an indication of our devotion to God.

What does God want us to sacrifice?

When we were adopted into the family. there are also some recommendations that are required of us in the fellowship of Christ.

John 1:12; [12] But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

Top recommendation for Sacrifice.

1. Loving Others.

Loving others is the kind of life Christ lived during his earthly ministry which resulted in His sacrifice, this was a sacrifice acceptable to God. When we love others, we are called the disciples of Christ. John 13:34-35; [34] A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. [35] By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

So, your love, demonstrated in your selfless humility to others, is a sacrifice well pleasing to God. Sacrificial love for one another is well pleasing to God. We must understand the Sacrifice that is required of God. taking a critical study of Jesus ministry, you will agree with me that the foundation of his ministry was rooted in love for others.

Mark 12:31; [31] And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Jesus Christ introduced the idea of ones Love to his neighbors and of course you know that a neighbor is not a family member but rather one that lives near or next to another person.

In this message of Jesus Christ which he preached above raised controversial argument with the Lawyers, Sadducees and Pharisees then. so, he now told a parable of the good Samaritan.

Luke 10:29-33,35-37; [29] But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” [30] Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. [31] Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. [32] Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. [33] But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. [35] On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ [36] So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” [37] And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” So, the Criteria to call yourself neighbor from the message of our Lord Jesus Christ is when you show Love to others.

The Top Role of Love

Perfection

In the scriptures we find the central role that love plays in our lives.

1 John 2:5; [5] But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

1 John 4:18; [18] There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Divine Covering

Psalms 91:1; [1] He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Due to God’s love toward us, we have every reason to be filled with hope, to feel secure, to expect His help and blessings, to enjoy salvation and abundant life, to live a life of love, to become more like Him, to live a life of victory over sin and evil, to enjoy His Presence and to be filled with God’s power .
