God is more than enough – understanding the power of consecration (Part 5)
2 Corinthians 9:8
[8]And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
Child of God, consecration is a very powerful spiritual exercise, this is so, because through it, we receive divine instructions and directions to be impactful in this earth realm, it is also through consecration, deep spiritual truths and secrets are revealed to the believer.
Through consecration we receive spiritual strength, energy and ability to withstand situations, challenges, and circumstances that may come our way, during our walk with the Lord.
Isaiah 40:31
[31]But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Apostle Paul was praying to the Ephesian church, on the premise, for their spiritual strength through the in-depth knowledge of Christ, he said to them in prayers.
Ephesians 3:16
[16]that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
Child of God, consecration is our place of strength and spiritual renewal. Jesus Christ, who is our Lord and king handed this same way of living to us, so this practice must never be under estimated.
Matthew 4:1-11
[1]Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
[2]And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
[3]Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
[4]But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
[5]Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple,
[6]and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ”
[7]Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”
[8]Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
[9]And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”
[10]Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
[11]Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
Saints God, the scripture that we read above happened, before the Lord began His earthly ministry, the spirit of Lord separated Him for the Masters use. This process of refinement is very important for us, it ensures our spiritual intonement or alignment to God.
And from time to time, Jesus Christ practiced this spiritual exercise, He sets Himself apart to receive spiritual compass for His earthly ministry from the Lord.
The Effects of Consecration.
- It promotes discipline:
It is in the place of consecration, that enhances our level of discipline, to develop an attitude of doing the right things.
Child of God, the foundation for worth while compounded results is in discipline.
Hebrews 12:11
[11]Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
- It promotes diligence:
Consecration makes us to be aware of the conscious use of our time for increased productivity.
Proverbs 12:24
[24]The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.
It enables us to detect distractions in any form especially as procrastination and to eliminate them when they show up.
Jesus Christ was focused during His earthly ministry and cause, He gave no heed to the spirit of procrastination. Child of God, what needs to be done today should be done today, you do not have all the time you want but you have all the time you need.
Let us consider Jesus statement when distraction came through King Herod’s threats against the ministry of the Lord.
Luke 13:31-33
[31]On that very day some Pharisees came, saying to Him, “Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.”
[32]And He said to them, “Go, tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.’
[33]Nevertheless I must journey today, tomorrow, and the day following; for it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.
You can see through scriptures that Jesus Christ refused to shift His focus, He maintained His attention on His assignment and not on the distraction.
- It promotes wisdom:
Through this spiritual exercise we operate with a high level of understanding and insight, redeeming the time .
Psalms 90:12
[12]So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.
This kind of wisdom is not the wisdom of the world, this wisdom is not gotten through the reading of books or through education. This kind of wisdom comes through the impartation gotten from the refining fire of consecration, this is the wisdom of the Lord imparted into the spirit of a child of God.
James 3:13-18
[13]Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.
[14]But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.
[15]This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.
[16]For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
[17]But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
[18]Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
- It brings boldness:
Saints of God, we need to be courageous and strong to make impactful decisions and goal oriented steps for advancing our cause in this natural world.
God has always admonished His children to be courageous in their daily work with Him.
One time, the disciples of Christ where also faced with threats from the chief priest and the religious elders, to renounce the gospel of Jesus Christ that was handed to them by the Lord.
Acts 4:29-31
[29]Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,
[30]by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”
[31]And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
Conclusion:
The magnitude of assignment that we have received from the Lord determines the level of concentration or attention that we give to consecration or to the Lord.
In the journey of becoming who the Lord has planned for us, demands total dependency on the Lord for clarity, wisdom and guidance.
Child of God, you must always understand or give heed to your source, when we seek for consecration we connect to the realms of the spiritual dynamics of receiving empowerment from our source.
Living in this natural world will be a lot fullfilled if we, accept our spiritual obligations, practice it, for increased and enhanced prosperous life. Praise God!
