The Mystery of Thanksgiving – Pastor Odim Awa

The Mystery of Thanksgiving – There is only two ways by which we measure our spiritual growth in this kingdom.

1. Our conformity to Christ.

This is a state of being similar or identical to Christ. Our lives must reflect the undoubtable realities of who Christ was.

Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Word conform is used in the verse, indicating that Paul believes many Christians are turning away from God and are instead shaped by the forces of the world. These worldly forces often oppose the ways of God. The more we follow them, the more we veer away from a life that follows God’s will.

2. Our access to Light.

Talks about assessing the working knowledge of the mysteries and the principles of the kingdom, 2 Peter 3:18, But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

These words summarize Peter’s letter and include both a warning against being misled by false teachers and an encouragement to keep growing in Christ. Specifically, Peter urges his readers to grow in two areas: The grace of Jesus, and their knowledge of Him.

The Mystery that controls things in this Kingdom.

Thanksgiving

In this kingdom there are principles that governs the blessings that has been given to the believer like wealth and prosperity, sound health and longevity, deliverance and breakthrough, influence and increase. Many times, in scripture we saw JESUS engage this mystery and it produced a mind-blowing result.

Why should we give thanks?

1. It is a good thing to give thanks,

Psalms 92:1 KJV, 92 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: James 1:17, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

It is Godly to be thankful. It is spiritual to be thankful. So, by comparing the two scriptures above we can clearly see that for us to access this good and perfect gift which is from above and which comes from the father of all spirits we must intentionally engage the mystery of thanksgiving at all times.

2. It is the will of God for us to give thanks

1 These 5:18, In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. As the scripture above acknowledges that thanksgiving is the will of God, and of course the only criteria for us to receive from God is when we pray according to his will. — 1 John 5:14, And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

The situation is not the will of God but your response to it is the will of God. The only way his kingdom comes is when we enforce his will and this can be done by engaging the mystery of thanksgiving. Anytime we seize in giving thanks we are robbing God the demonstration of the realities of his kingdom.

3. Thanksgiving is the secret to multiplication.

Thanksgiving is the seed for more. whenever you want more. give thanks. The key is not complaining or grumbling but Thanksgiving. — John 6:6-13

And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. — John 6:7, Philip answered him, two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

— John 6:8, One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him, — John 6:9, There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? — John 6:10, And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So, the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

— John 6:11, And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. — John 6:12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

— John 6:13, Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. Wherever there is genuine Thanksgiving the grace that multiplies will always answer. One of the things that brought the anger of God on the Israelites are murmuring and complaining.

Thanksgiving is the code in the spirit which says Lord I need more. You frustrate Satan when you give thanks. because by Thanksgiving you acknowledge that there is a God above you who holds the key to your benevolence and multiplication. — Jeremiah 30:19, And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

4. Thanksgiving is the Secret to wholeness and Perfection.

Luke 17:13-19, The story of the ten lepers, it is the last step in exercising your faith. Philippians 4:6, Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
— Supplication means a humble request. The above scripture summarizes the spiritual formular of receiving from the Lord. Prayer —– supplication —-thanksgiving

5. It is the Secret to Supernatural Victories in the Spirit…

2 Chronicles 20:22-24, Jehoshaphat encompassed by the multitude of armies, How the enemy is going to be destroyed is none of your business. your part is to obediently engage the mystery of thanksgiving…

Ways to Show thanksgiving

1. Testimonies

Psalms 22:2, I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. Psalms 96:3, Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy… meaning it has the capacity to build up the faith of the listener.

2. To sing Praises

Psalms 28:7, The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore, my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. — Psalms 105:2, Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. — Psalms 69:30, I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

3. Through Your seed, Through Your giving.

Psalms 116:17I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.

It takes faith to give
