Psalms 115:14
[14]May the Lord give you increase more and more, You and your children.
When you observe the opening scriptures, you will notice, the sole responsibility of the Lord to assuring us of progress.
Let us, also warmly, consider the concept of God’s progress for His children as moving forward, even if it’s one small step at a time .
In ministry or life, it’s about advancing God’s kingdom and fulfilling purpose. But, child of God, it is an established fact that most of God’s children undergo some sort of hinderances in their daily wake of life, such hinderances might arise to oppose their progress.
Does this mean, that the word of God, is not effective enough to bring to pass God’s promises for His children?
And, does it, also signify that the oppositions, that we experience when we are set to advance the kingdom of God and to fulfill purpose, are stronger than the word of God ?
These are thoughts that we must trash, in this message to bring clarity to the child of God who is seeking for progress without barriers or even in the midst of barriers, Praise the Lord!
Hebrews 4:12
[12]For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
As I carefully considered the above scripture, I would say, through the inspiration of God’s holy Spirit, of course not, because the scripture above proves or provides evidence of the supremacy of the word of God over everything, whether, animate or non animate. Hallelujah!
If so, but, why do the children of God still experience hinderances ?
Child of God, I want you to know that the main causes of hinderances are self imposed.
Proverbs 19:3
[3]The foolishness of a man twists his way, And his heart frets against the Lord.
Child of God, do you notice something from this phrase in the scripture, “thefoolishness of a man twists his way” the writer used it to categorize self imposed hinderances.
Then, the writer also went ahead to further illustrate in his writing from the same scripture “his heart goes against the word of the Lord”, but the question that you might want me to answer now, is, how? The simple answer is, by his unbelief!
1 Peter 2:5
[5]you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Child of God, this scripture represents the child of God, as living and a spiritual building because of the word of God that is in his spirit and according to scriptures the word of God is living, and due to its living nature it is able to cause us to have visible growth or progress, Hallelujah!
But, any person that walks in unbelief according to scriptures, who does not believe in the efficacy of the word of God to be alive, then these tendencies expressed above, which he has shown against the word God, is done through the expressions of his emotions.
How can the Emotions affect our Progress?
In this message I will be explaining this term, as described above in its two different perspectives.
Negative Emotions:
Negative emotions are, Feelings like anger, fear, sadness, guilt, or shame, worry, anxiety, pain, jealousy.
These feelings are a hinderances to progress, and we must not allow these feelings to creep in to oppose the good work of God on our lives.
Ephesians 4:30-32
[30]And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
[31]Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.
[32]And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
We must ensure to keep our heart secured with the word of God, and not to negative emotions or thoughts.
Proverbs 4:23
[23]Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.
So, child of God, you can see that the intent of our negative thoughts contributes to the opposition in the form of hinderances that we experience in life, this mentioned above is amplified when we adhere to unbelief by operating with negative emotions.
let us quickly consider this story of Cain and Abel, below.
Genesis 4:1-8
[1]Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.”
[2]Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
[3]And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord.
[4]Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering,
[5]but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.
[6]So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?
[7]If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
[8]Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.
Cain killed his brother, Abel, because of the negative emotions that he exhibited.
Child of God, you can rightly see the outcome of his attitude, which was a hinderance to the visible Progress, that God desired for him.
[22]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
[23]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Child of God, this scripture is a proof, that we are really equipped with God’s word for visible Progress.
If only that we can walk in the fruits of the Spirit of God, there is no such barrier nor hinderances that can stop our progress, Hallelujah!
But, in this message or teaching, we will consider the greatest of them all that was commanded by God for us to immitate, by so, we can dismantle and abolish any sort of hinderances against our growth and advancement.
John 3:16
[16]For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Brethren, eternal life is a powerful experience, and we received it through the act of God’s Love.
God’s Love for His children is superior kind of Love, it is not compromising, God’s love is agape, it is not self seeking, it is sacrificial, God’s Love can conquer anything, no wonder Jesus Christ, commanded us to practice His unwavering Love.
Matthew 22:36-40
[36]“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”
[37]Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
[38]This is the first and great commandment.
[39]And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
[40]On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Conclusion:
The word of God that we have received is living, in its nature, which means it sustains the capacity to build us up for visible growth and progress.
But when we don’t see these evidential manifestations of God’s word in our life, we should take a quick check on our emotions.
Child of God, for the word of God to produce what it says in you, you should Abhor negative emotions and unwavering stay committed to positive emotions to what the word says.
Through our unwavering commitment to God’s kind of Love, which is a positive emotion, and the great commandment, we can dismantle, nullify and overcome all forms of hinderances against our destiny, Hallelujah!
